🇺🇸 America 250 on Tiki Island
America250 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States in 1776.
The Tiki Island Community Foundation (TICF) is leading local efforts to commemorate this historic milestone in 2026 and to celebrate the stories, traditions, and community spirit that define life on Tiki Island.
Communities across the country are participating in this once-in-a-generation commemoration by sharing local history, honoring civic traditions, and celebrating the people and places that shaped their communities.
The Tiki Island Community Foundation (TICF) is proud to participate in this national effort through partnerships with TexasAmerica250, America250 and the Freedom250 Networks.
Why it Matters for Tiki Island
While Tiki Island is a small coastal community, its story reflects the same American themes of community, resilience, and connection.
Through this initiative, TICF will help highlight:
• the history and development of Tiki Island
• the stories of island families and residents
• community traditions and shared experiences
• the spirit of neighborly connection that defines island life
By documenting and celebrating these stories, we ensure they are preserved for future generations.
What Residents Will See
To mark the 250th anniversary in 2026, residents will see several community initiatives, including:
• the Tiki Island Heritage Collection
• community storytelling projects
• educational displays and exhibits
• historical highlights shared through social media
• community events and celebrations
• the July 4th America250 Celebration
These efforts will help bring our island’s story to life while connecting it to the broader American story.
Invitation to Participate
• sharing family stories or island history
• contributing photos or memorabilia
• attending community programs and events
• participating in the America250 celebrations leading up to July, 2026
Community participation will help build a meaningful record of Tiki Island’s history.
Because the story of America has always been written through its communities —
and the story of Tiki Island is part of that American story.
